I have severe neuropathy in my legs and have difficulty walking and standing, so am confined to “sitting” most of the time. I usually sit in an office chair (with in-line wheels for ease of rolling around the house) or on the sofa during the day while at home. When out of the house, I am in a wheelchair.To “transfer” from the sofa to the office chair or the wheelchair or vice-versa, my husband puts the “chair” as close to the sofa as possible, and I slide over–this doesn’t always work as planned, and I am barely sitting on the chair seat. This can be scary until I get straightened out.I had seen transfer boards, but most were made in a straight rectangle and out of heavy wood. When I saw this YHK Slide Transfer Board, I decided to give it a try. The curve in the design caught my eye–so did the smooth finish and lightweight metal composition. This transfer board has been a game changer in my daily life! No more lopsided landings when transferring.My only complaint is the “round helper hooks,” meant for hooking onto the wheelchair frame. They poke into my thighs while sliding across them. I don’t use them as intended, so would have preferred the transfer board without them–but am still pleased with the transfer board overall.
