   Received a suggestion on this product from a friend when my Mom had a slip off the side of the bed. The Support Rail was priced very well, arrived within two days and was packaged great; parts were individually wrapped so no scratches or dings in the finish! The assembly was slightly hard to understand using the photo instruction; in the end the full picture was the most helpful. (4.5 with 5 being easy). Wasn’t sure how sturdy this product would be, am totally impressed with it now! 5 out of 5 for stability and safety. We placed the unit at the head of the bed but you can place it at any position you prefer for personal use. The bed has a memory foam mattress (which is very heavy to lift or shift) so it did take two people to lift the mattress into the air OVER and then set it down on top of the underbed assembly – but between the safety strap around the bed frame and mattress on top of the unit, the safety bar became as solid as if we had mounted it to the wall and floor. Another nice feature is multiple height adjustments on the legs as it turned out one leg was on carpet and one on sealed concrete floor (we just set the first leg to height on the carpet and then lowered the other leg one notch and the unit was level and firm). Once in place two large adults tried to move or shift it and couldn’t. It provides Mom with a handle to grab when sitting up in bed and balance as she swings her legs to the side of the bed as well as stability for her to hold onto while she puts on socks or pants before standing. Then she uses it to reach standing position (she has bad knees and is not a small woman) it provides HER with the firm stability she needs for confidence she can “do for herself” again and US with the peace of mind that she is safe and stable. The unit also looks great without shouting “safety bars” when you see it, and putting on sheets and blankets is no challenge at all.

   I can honestly say this assist rail was a happy experience. I have not been this pleased with a product in a while. EXCELLENT build quality, directions to assemble, accuracy of description on website, durability. THOUGHTFUL design. Very sturdy, no problems with movement because it sits so far under the mattress & is stabilized on the floor.BIG pros…-Foam rail grip was very comfortable on hands.-Bag attaches so easily & firmly.-Security strap allows you to further secure or pull out if needed. (We didn’t need to secure it on the other side of the bed, frame was secure by itself. We left strap on side where the rail is to make it easier to remove when we had to roll the bed a couple times.)Not Cons, just FYIs…-Adjustment buttons are 1.5″ apart, so you may have to choose between a tiny bit off the floor vs. a tiny bit too high for mattress. Don’t worry — these both work out ok once you sit down on side of bed.-The picture shows that it can expand up to 15.5″ on top. Be aware that it’s not quite that much based on where the bottom line is shown in the pic. It’s actually 15.5″ from the adjustment button, which is below the bar the mattress sits on. If you’re expecting a full 15.5″ clearance, you won’t get quite that much.

   I bought this adjustable bed assist rail handle in November 2022 for my loved one who needed assistance getting in and out of bed after experiencing significant medical issues. He needed something that could support his weight, as he needed the rail for both balance while sitting/standng and support while getting in/out of bed and getting dressed. This rail worked perfectly. It remained sturdy and in place, and never yielded under his weight. I’m so grateful that it gave my loved one some independence and dignity back, something that you just can’t put a price tag on. My loved one used it nearly every day for 7 months until he passed away, and now I hope to give it to someone else who can use it. The only caveats are: (1) measure the height of the box springs, mattress and any mattress topper to ensure that it is tall enough to extend above. the mattress (or mattress topper if you have one), and (2) it’s challenging to install the support strap with only one person for a California king-sized bed. However, neither of those have to do with the product and more about doing a little due diligence and getting help. In our case, the weight of the mattress with the long bar of the rail kept the rail adequately in place, but I would have preferred having the strap fully in place in an abundance of caution. If I were back in November 2022 and had to make a purchasing decision again, I would make the same decision. I hope this helps.
