Perfect for that slide patient transfer especially on an angle. Beautiful wood finish, adds style. Handles in those 3 areas also invaluable. Not too heavy or cumbersome to carry during travel. Fits nicely in overhead compartment on plane.
Helpful hinter! –
This wooden board reminds me of the first board my brother got after he broke his neck. I was a very skinny little girl, and I was able to get my brother in and out of the car and in and out of the bed. His was handmade and didn’t have any holes in it or notches, it was a lot thinner and lighter. This board is a bit heavy, has handles and notches. I suppose the notches would come in handy if I wasn’t already used to not having them. This board is actually a beautiful piece of wood that is very helpful. I don’t know how it would work if the person you are helping didn’t have upper body strength though. To get my brother out of his car, he lifts up his butt and I put the board underneath it and I pull the wheelchair up without the right arm and put the other end of the board on the wheelchair. I then grab his feet from the car and bring them as far out of the car as I can. With the board still under his butt and on the wheelchair, he lifts himself up and slides across the board onto the wheelchair. I pull the board out and leave it on the seat in his car, reattach the arm to his wheelchair, pull his wheelchair back about a foot and put the pedals in place and set his feet on each pedal. It sounds like a lot, but this board makes it possible!!This board is made in China.

This board is very useful for transfers. There is a learning curve to it though. I am glad we stuck with it.The board is so beautiful, I hate to use it.The various handles make transfers so much easier.Thanks Galenus Medical!
