I’ve had mine for at least a year. If you want total adjustability, ” ANALOG CONTROLS ARE THE WAY TO GO!”Since then I’ve bought two other tens units that have digital settings. The first one was total digital. Very disappointed on how that one worked. The second one was in the same form factor as the one sold here and though the top controls were analog the settings are digital and don’t seem to have as much power as the totally analog unit. The only negative issue is with the wires. The plugs that plug into the unit will at some point ( depending on how often you use it ) will break internally and create an open circuit. This means you will have to buy new wires but new wires are available on Galenus Medical and cost about $7 a set. I always order mine ahead of time so I have them if one wire stops working. This tens unit used to cost less but now is over $50 which is a bit much but still worth buying IMO. If you want some ZING from your tens machine this little bugger will surprise you.

I saw there were deals on these types of machines on Prime Day, so I started researching on them as I always wanted one. Although this brand/model wasn’t included on any deal that day, I decided to purchase it as I was suffering from intense carpal tunnel / cervical / shoulder pain – basically my entire right side was in pain (computer use) .As soon as it was delivered I charged it, and once it was ready to use I tried it on my cervical. I placed the electrodes accordingly as the guide it comes with suggests and it immediately felt amazing. About 60 min later I tried the carpal tunnel positioning.I am so happy I finally got this! It is such a great and efficient pain relief tool. I sit at my computer desk for hours at a day, and use mouse / Wacom tablet or I stand a lot cooking / cleaning – so my back and right arm give me a great deal of pain. I also have a sensitive stomach, so I don’t like taking pain reliever meds. The machine itself is super easy to use. I decided on this model vs the ones with an lcd screen and bells and whistles because in my mind keeping it analog and simple makes it for less stuff to malfunction. It is also rechargeable which is great as batteries are a hassle and wasteful. The knobs slide easily and securely. It feels solid overall. My right side feels much better today and the only thing I regret is not getting one of these earlier in my life.

I have MS which results in neurological pain in my top right leg. It’s a burning itching that is hard to describe, but feels like I’m standing in a campfire while my leg is being eaten by fire ants. Except none of it feels like a hot fire, but a sub-zero cold fire.If anyone out there suffers from neurological pain and has yet to try a TENS unit, I highly recommend trying one. Of all the tools in my toolbox to manage pain, my TENS units are the best solutions I have for acute pain. It can almost be euphoric in regards to the instant relief it can give.Overall, this is the best TENS unit I have yet found, and I’ve purchased over half a dozen over the years. Despite being a very good device, it has a few design flaws that keep it from being just about perfect.Pros:-Light, yet solid and well built-Simple attractive design-Effective wave patterns and settings that provide great pain relief-Rechargeable by USB-Works with standard square pads (no proprietary pads required)-A very impressive instruction booklet-Quality travel case and overall packagingCons:-Level 5 to 6 goes from good pain relief to painful lightning bolt very quickly-No way to lock the settings-A bit overpricedOverall this device does well at exactly what it is designed to do, and that is give pain relief. Many of my other TENS units have lackluster overall wave performance. However, the one real con is a big one: right around level 5, it goes very quickly to a much higher intensity. This is a bad combination when I cannot see anyway to lock the dial. Ideally, some kind of switch that puts it in lock mode would be ideal, but even some kind of cover that closes off the upper dials would be at least something. As it is, you have to be very careful of where the device is at so that the unprotected dials do not get nudged in any way. (I learned this the hard way.) With any TENS unit I have had, walking with one on is very painful as an inconsistent adhesion to my skin causes minor shocks. But with this unit, walking with one (hence using the included belt clip) would be a potential disaster. Also, don’t start turning up the dial as soon as it fires up. It takes a few seconds to initialize. Give it a sec and then turn it up slowly. (Also learned the hard way.)The instruction booklet is amazing also. Sounds like a small thing, but it is really, really good! Clearly written by someone who is fluent in English, which helps the relatively complicated topics it covers. It covers everything from general concepts of pain, to in depth use of the device. It’s very well thought out, and gives the impression of a company actually concerned with pain management.Charging by USB is something that is mandatory for any TENS unit purchases I will make at this point. With my other units, I either have to plow through the batteries, or use rechargeable batteries. The problem is that the rechargeables do not adequately give the devices enough juice, even when fully charged. And I’m using the top tier Pro Eneloops. Even though this doesn’t make total sense to me, it’s apparent nonetheless. But with the USB charging option, problem solved. It’s also nice that this unit works with the standard square pads that are easy to find in bulk on Galenus Medical. I’m also able to get the square pads directly from my doctor for free(ish). Some of my units have a weird configuration that requires their own proprietary pads, which is a bit of a scam imo. So even though there is a high price tag, this feature lets you re-coop a little bit of the expense.Overall, I would recommend this device. I have seen other reviewers mention to be wary of electro-stim devices vs TENS units. They are right. I have some electro-stim devices. They are great for relaxing my muscles, but not for pain management. This is 100% a TENS unit for pain management. If they could just solve the issue with the sudden power change and no ability to lock the dials, I might even say that it would be worth the high price tag.If their higher priced models solve this problem, I may look into those. But they seem to get expensive really fast. For now, I’m just gonna be careful that I keep it still and protected while in use.
