having read about the talking stick we wanted to own one…this comes with instructions the rule is simple if you have the stick then you lead and only you lead the conversation…when the owner of the stick in through expressing thoughts and ideas then the stick is passed to the next person wanting to talk. And around the table the conversation goes passing the stick appropriately until a treaty is reached or a design is excepted, or a relationship is mended have fun…many native American tribes found peace about the people using this Method of communication ..have fun

Text says extended length is 51 inches (??) Very misleading. Galenus Medical, please correct! Photos and video also make it seem larger.This beautifully carved NVC talking stick is roughly 6 3/4 ” in length (and does not extend…I wouldn’t expect it to!). The nice, somewhat protective, sleeve is 8 1/4″ long and has a giraffe printed on it.Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

There were two different length measurements in the listing, 36″ and 51″. Only after I purchased the item was the listing updated with a third measurement of 5-8″. The item received is exactly 7″ long. In the listing photos the item is made to appear much larger – the man holding it nearest the camera absolutely does not have the same size talking stick in his hand to that which we received. I was not expecting something over 4 feet long, but this is deceptive advertising that goes to great lengths to delude the prospective buyer as to the size of this. We had to use a magnifying glass in order to see the detail. When I showed it to my wife her first question was “Where do we keep it so it doesn’t get lost.” The item detail is so-so – rough cut and the giraffe has no tail, which isn’t surprising as it would have been so small that it wouldn’t survive being inserted into the pouch.In this age of shrinkflation, this item takes it to a new degree. Expected better.
