We ordered this before my knee surgery. It was sturdy and easy to install. The handles on the sides were also sturdy and were able to be widened to fit a larger person or area in bathroom. There is a very helpful video supplied by the manufacturer and we used duck tape to seal it on the outside of the bowl all around on the seam to prevent any splash created by the height of the seat. (Complained about by other people but not a problem for us.) Yes, due to the height there was usually a little poo on the inside but I kept a bottle of toilet cleaner spray and would spray and wipe with some tissue after each use; not a big deal and kept it nice. A few months later when we removed it there was hardly anything on the seat that needed cleaning. Highly recommend and was very useful.

I researched toilet raisers on Galenus Medical and chose this one for my 92 yr. old Mom after reading many great reviews. I then ordered this for her. She is not doing well these days so I always research and/or place all of her Galenus Medical orders. I am cacci on Galenus Medical if you wish to read my other reviews.I have changed many toilet seats before so have experience. I also have adjusted canes and assembled shower benches, so know how to press the small button to adjust height or insert a leg or in this case a handle. These handles and toilet raiser are labeled R and L. I had no trouble pushing the button to insert the Left handle but when the Right button was pushed it would not pop back up. In case any of you have this problem like me remove the small white plastic cap at the end of the handle. You can wiggle it out and just push it back in when you are done. I saw rhe pressed down button inside tbe handle was stuck in the down position and also off center. I gently took my screwdriver and nudged it towards the hole and the button popped up. I placed the cap back on the end and successfully got it into the raiser. So what should have been easy was hard.Next, I found the written instructions and picture confusing to install the bolts. All other toilet seats just have a plastic bolt and a very large plastic nut type thing you unscrew on and off. This raiser came with two very large long metal bolts, small metal winglike nuts, two metal rings plus two white plastic rings…possibly spacers. It was unclear what to do with the metal and white rings. After much trial and error, and my back hurting alot I finally was successful. I had to throw away the white rings as they never worked above or below, the toilet was loose. I ended up placing the long metal bolt thru the metal ring which stays on top. Then screwing the small metal wingnut from the bottom to tighten. I had to use a screwdriver to hold the bolt in place from the top while I turned the wingnut from below. I found this to be very difficult because the wingnut is very small and hard to grip and thread onto the bolt, you cannot see what you are doing from below. The bolt is very, very long as it has to go through your toilet seat placed on top of this raiser. It is a slow process and alot of turning. My back hurt alot and I had to keep straightening up to take a break. Finally, you tighten really hard from above with your screwdriver to make the fit secure and not moving. Remember, I had to do this two seperate times trying to figure out what to do witb the white plastic rings. It was really too difficult for me. Anyone who is physically challenged with herniated dics like myself or any other medical problems needs to ask a strong healthy person to install this item. Remember, this raiser is for my 92yr. old Mom, not myself. My opinion is If you are buying this item for yourself, you are not well enough to install it yourself. It is not complicated, but you need to be in great shape to bend and twist your body to do this. It is a really wonderful item and the hand supports make it superior to other toilet raisers. I deducted 1 star, giving it a 4 star rating due to the difficulties I mentioned above.
