My wife occasionally suffered from neck pain caused by a herniated disc in her cervical spine. When that happened, the only relief she found was with Advil, but eventually, relying on that took a toll on her. A friend suggested she try this therapy at home, and after just two 10-minute sessions over two days, the difference was incredible. It was a game changer.Great product—reliable and very well built.

This device is easy to adjust for the user’s neck and simple to use… and it REALLY WORKS! It is sturdy and well constructed for long-term use.The first thing you’ll need to do after unpacking this device, per directions, is adjust the neck pad width to suit your neck. There are 5 positions, from narrow to wide. You’ll need to lay with your head on the device to determine the most appropriate width. Then, to adjust the width, you simply pinch tabs on the underside of the pads and slide each side into position.Once you’ve adjusted the neck width, you lay down, positioning your head on the pad above the neck area on the device. Make sure the pressure gauge is at zero. There is a strap to velcro around your forehead to secure your head against the device. It does not seem to make much difference using the strap when you initially start using it, but as you increase the traction, your head may be prone to lift up/off the device, and so the strap helps ensure your head and neck remain aligned in the correct way.Once in position, you’ll use the hand pump to increase the traction. You’ll feel the neck pads lift, pushing your head upwards as the head cradle also moves upwards, elongating your c-spine. To reduce the pressure, there is a button on the hand pump that releases air/pressure.You can use this for continuous or intermittent stretches and active traction. You may want to consult your PT for a treatment regimen. The first time I used this, I think I may have overdone it. I was a bit sore from the first day’s stretching. The second time, I was a bit less aggressive, stretching to where I felt was my limit, and then releasing a bit of air to rest at a little under where I felt gave me a good stretch. I still got a meaningful stretch as I relaxed and let the air pressure provide the traction/stretch. I got better results at that point. This device really is doing a lot, even when it may not feel like it at first.I think this is an excellent neck traction device. I like that it is low-tech. No electronics – just an air pump you hold in your hands to regulate the pressure upwards.I would have liked for there to have been suggested treatment exercises with this, yet that may be considered “medical advice”, which, of course, the company cannot give. That would need to come from your doctor or therapist. This device comes with an additional tool for stretching your neck –a C/wave neck stretcher. This one is a little different than others I’ve tried in that it has a soft, foam piece in the area yoyr neck rests on it.Both the traction device and the blue, C/Wave neck stretcher come in a bag designed for the device shape everything that comes with this fits in the zippered bag, and the bag has both a handle and a padded shoulder strap for ease of storage and transport.

After messing around with this traction device my impressions are that I’m not sure if I’m using it correctly. The instructions are limited and it even says it should be setup properly with a physician. With the neck wedge I basically have to set it to the largest setting to fit my neck in it. I don’t think the pinch adjustment tabs are easy to set and they seem like they won’t last being made of plastic. When pressurized the kit doesn’t seem to move my neck much, but just puts pressure on the base of the skull with the two pads. Currently it is hard to recommend at this price level. At the very least it needs to include much better instructions, which really reduces my rating.
