Very sturdy!

I had to re-learn to walk and was not overly steady on my feet upon getting home from rehab. Getting in and out of the bathtub to shower had me quite concerned. I chose this bar due to having more than one level to grab. It was simple to install.

I selected this in lieu of drilling through tile and putting up grab bars on the walls around the bathtub. This is really sturdy. I looked at pretty much everything the world had to offer and this one was the tallest and, based on reviews, the sturdiest. I am 5′ 11″ 170 LBS and the height of this is perfect and should work for even taller people. Seriously, perfect height to grab onto for support. This is for my father in law who needs it, I just tested it to make sure it held up well. I really, really leaned heavy on it, entering and exiting the bathtub and this held up like the rock of Gibralter. Feels really secure. I’m glad I didn’t go cheap and get something else.My tub is not exactly straight up and down. A bit of a curve on the inside of the tub. I knew it was meant for a straight tub and the gripper bars are definitely straight and really thick. I slowly tightened the gripper bars and they did slightly bend to fit the curve. I was concerned that I was putting a lot of stress on the threads of the bolt as I could see the bar angling a bit against the threads as the bar was bending. I didn’t want to strip the big bolts so I went slow, keeping an eye on the threads and they held up fine and I was able to get a nice and very tight grip on the tub. I pushed and pulled and leaned and tried my best to make it budge but it stayed nice and tight.Would I buy this again? Absolutely without hesitation. Would I feel secure using it for heavy support? Absolutely.
