If you need assist for balance while getting in or out of bed, or for repositioning yourself while in bed, this device works well. It is not so wide as to block your access but wide enough to feel secure. The part of the installation that requires you to wrap the long straps around your boxspring is a bit tricky but I’m 76 with mobility issues and I did it.I do believe that step is necessary for stability and keeping the device in place. Have been using this bedrail for a couple of weeks and so far I am happy with this purchase.
