I bought this bed rail for my sister with special needs who has come to live with me. We are waiting for a hospital bed to be approved by Medicaid, but in the meantime, I have set up a day bed with this rail to keep her safe in her bed. It is extremely easy to use and is a good height and length to keep her from falling out. Because we are using it with a day bed, it needed to be secured to a plywood board, but if someone were to put it in between a regular mattress and a box spring, the plywood would not be needed. This bed rail would be great for seniors or anyone who needs to be secure in their bed without falling out and who would like to let themselves in and out of the bed independently. The handle is very easy to use and the rail goes up and down easily from either inside or outside of the bed. Just be careful to keep your fingers away from the railing as it goes up or down because you can pinch your fingers.

The only downside is depending on the style of your bed, the install may not be straightforward. With a little bit of know-how and shims, definitely doable for even a DIY-er.

I have a major falling out of bed which is 3 feet to the floor. I plan to use this with bed frame that changes in bringing my head up or feet up. So going to use 33″ board 6″ wide on the two under mattress holding rods to keep it in place even while changing head or foot. It says to use a plywood sheet but can’t if using adjustable bed frame on newer beds.
